Spring/Summer Container Planting
Who can use a few pointers for making your potted plants beautiful and easy to plant too!? I’ll show you how to create a wow worthy planter below!
Let’s start with the old gardening adage “Thriller, Filler, and Spiller” and use that advice to create some fabulous containers. First, a “thriller” is a taller plant usually with a strong statement of color or form. “Filler” plants are planted around your “thriller” plant to (obviously) fill in and hide the soil. Finally, the “spiller” plant is one that is planted toward the edge and trails over the pot. Using all these plants together creates a “WOW” container and it’s just as easy to create this as it is to plant all the same thing. Well, almost as easy! You just have to spend a few more minutes at your garden center picking everything out.
HomeGoods has our favorite selection of large planters to choose from currently. They have a large variety of affordable sizes, textures and colors.
